href=\"https:\/\/open-access-tage.de\/open-access-tage-2023-berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open-Access-Tagen 2023<\/a>, die Ende September an der FU Berlin stattfanden, haben Kristin Biesenbender und Ralf Toepfer aus der ZBW ausgew\u00e4hlte Ergebnisse ihrer neuen Untersuchung im Rahmen einer <a href=\"https:\/\/zenodo.org\/records\/8232647\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poster-Session<\/a> vorgestellt und mit den Teilnehmenden der Tagung diskutiert. Ihre Studie befasst sich mit dem Wandel des Publikationsverhaltens von Forschenden in den Lebenswissenschaften.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Worum geht es?<\/h2>\n<p>Zu Beginn der COVID-19-Pandemie gab es insbesondere in den Lebenswissenschaften eine regelrechte Flut an Vorabver\u00f6ffenlichungen (Preprints) von Manuskripten, die auf sogenannten Preprint-Servern Open Access zug\u00e4nglich gemacht wurden (Fraser, N., Brierley, L., Dey, G., Polka, J. K., P\u00e1lfy, M., Nanni, F., &#038; Coates, J. A. (2021). The evolving role of preprints in the dissemination of COVID-19 research and their impact on the science communication landscape. PLOS Biology, 19(4) und Puebla, I., Polka, J., &#038; Rieger, O. Y. (2022). Preprints: Their Evolving Role in Science Communication. Against the Grain (Media), LLC). Grund war das dringliche Anliegen, die Erkenntnisse zu den Auswirkungen des Virus und der Entwicklung von Impfstoffen schnell \u00f6ffentlich zu machen. Viele Forschende nutzten die Vorabver\u00f6ffentlichung ihrer Forschungsergebnisse, um die oftmals langwierigen Ver\u00f6ffentlichungsprozesse der traditionellen Fachzeitschriften zu umgehen. Erm\u00f6glicht wurde dies durch Preprint-Repositorien wie zum Beispiel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bioRxiv<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medRxiv<\/a> oder auch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchsquare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research Square<\/a>, die vor der Pandemie von der wissenschaftlichen Gemeinschaft nur langsam angenommen worden waren.<\/p>\n<p>Mit dem Ausbruch der COVID-19-Pandemie kam es ab April 2020 zu einem rapiden Anstieg an Preprints auf diesen Repositorien (Fraser, Brierley et al., 2021). Anders als in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften oder der Physik, in denen eine ausgepr\u00e4gte Preprint-Kultur existiert, war dies f\u00fcr die Lebenswissenschaften ein neues Ph\u00e4nomen. Wir wollten herausfinden, ob es sich bei dem Anstieg von Preprints in den Lebenswissenschaften um ein einmaliges, quasi krisenbezogenes, Ph\u00e4nomen handelt oder um den Beginn eines dauerhaften (Kultur-)Wandels des Publikationsverhaltens der Forschenden. <\/p>\n<h2>Was haben wir gemacht?<\/h2>\n<p>Um unsere Forschungsfrage zu untersuchen, ob es sich bei dem beobachtbaren Zuwachs an Preprints um ein tempor\u00e4res Ph\u00e4nomen handelt oder den Beginn eines dauerhaften Wandels des Publikationsverhaltens der Forschenden, haben wir zun\u00e4chst eine Umfrage durchgef\u00fchrt und diese dann mit einer bibliometrischen Output-Analyse unterf\u00fcttert.<\/p>\n<p>Den <a href=\"https:\/\/data.gesis.org\/sharing\/#!Detail\/10.7802\/2552\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fragebogen der Umfrage<\/a>, der 25 Fragen zu Erfahrungen, Motivation, Bedenken, der Rolle von Forschungsf\u00f6rderern und zuk\u00fcnftigen Entwicklungen enthielt, wurde an 24.219 Autor:innen von COVID-19-Preprints versandt, von denen wir 1.131 vollst\u00e4ndig ausgef\u00fcllte Antworten erhielten. Auf unserem Poster auf den Open-Access-Tagen haben wir die Antworten zu zwei Fragen dokumentiert, die Hinweise auf das zuk\u00fcnftige Ver\u00f6ffentlichen von Preprints liefern.<\/p>\n<p>In der bibliometrischen Outputanalyse haben wir die Anzahl von COVID-19- und Nicht-COVID-19- Preprints der Jahre 2020-2022 von acht Repositorien mit Hilfe der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dimensions.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Datenbank Dimensions<\/a> verglichen.<\/p>\n<h2>Was ist rausgekommen?<\/h2>\n<p>Die Ergebnisse unserer Umfrage zeigen, dass 67% der Befragten der Aussage zustimmen, dass die Vorabver\u00f6ffentlichung von Forschungsergebnissen in Form von Preprints auch zuk\u00fcnftig eine g\u00e4ngige Praxis sein wird.
